If you want to show list of your recent or any specific post list. I have got two equally powerful plug-ins, you can use any, if you wish to get such a list.
1. Recent Posts Embedd: Recent Posts Embed is a plugin for WordPress that allows you to easily place list of recent posts anywhere in your site. Using this plugin, you have one option page in Dashboard and you need not edit any theme files of yours i.e. Its function will not affect, even if you change theme. You can see this plug-in in operation on this page.
2. Recent Posts: You have more customization option in this plugin, but to use this you need to edit your theme files or templates.
