After using hosting from Godaddy for almost a year, I have started loving it. I would like to state that selecting a good web host is very crucial decision. You can very well understand importance of good host if you come across a bad one. First I would like to list few must consider points, if you are searching a good host.
- Importance: Imagine few people are trying to access your site and its down just because of server problem. Imagine you need to access some of your personal data on urgent basis and you just can’t do it now. Imagine knowingly or by mistake your host have deleted your data from server, you want some feature on your website, but your host does not provide that facility on your server. These are the enough example for understanding importance of good host.
- Cost comes second: Earlier I had chosen some cheap hosting plan, but after having many issues with them I realized that these were to costly for me because after paying them I had to select other host as later I realized that those plan were not serving my purpose.
- Try Before You Buy: I recommend to have one month plan or trial pack initially so that you can come to know what you will really get.
- Don’t Act on Reviews: Don’t just select any host just by reading rave reviews of hosts on few sites because many sites just arrange the paid reviews. So remain alert even after reading good reviews.
- Go for Linux: If you don’t have any specific reason for Windows, go for Linux web space, because you will have many more applications supported for this and less restrictions or problems.
Here I would like to tell you something about Godaddy Hosting here.
- No Problems: By now I don’t have any major issue with Godaddy, but I initially opted for Windows hosting, but I could not implement permalinks on WordPress ( so my url were like http://dak.com/?p=312 , but I wanted these to be like http://dak.me/my-post-name ) so I needed Linux sapce for that so I switched from Windows to Linux. GoDaddy provide this facility for free.
- Uptime: GoDaddy has great uptime, though I have not measure it, but I didn’t face any downtime in my knowledge.
- Moderate cost: many cheaper hosts are availabe but I am happy with what I am paying and what I am getting. At present I have delux hosting plan.
- Great Domain Manager: I have all my domains registered with or transferred to Godaddy so I dont have any issue with nameservers or configurations. Godaddy is the best domain manager and provides many free facilities for domain like 90 sub domain, free e-mail hosting, free CNAME, A, MX record editing. free redirection etc.
Not Cool: but I don’t like its site as it is
- very slow
- many times have redirection loop problem
- Frequently ask for login in information
- No direct number to talk to for my country (I don’t know about other countries )
- Support is slow – you get answer of your problems after few hour.
Despite all that I Like it and recommend GoDaddy to you if you are searching for good moderately priced host.
